How to use the Break-Even & MDF Calculator
Every bet you make — whether a value bet or a bluff — has a break-even point. The break-even percentage tells you how often your bet needs to work (opponent folds) for it to be immediately profitable as a pure bluff.
- Break-Even % (attacker): The percentage of the time your bluff must succeed to break even. Calculated as Bet / (Pot + Bet).
- MDF (defender): Minimum Defense Frequency — the portion of your range you must continue with (call or raise) to prevent the opponent from profiting with any two cards.
MDF = 1 − Break-Even%. If you fold more than the MDF, your opponent can bluff any two cards at a profit. Use this alongside pot odds to build balanced, unexploitable ranges.
